If your company is located in a city or state with rest time rules, you want to make sure your employees are getting enough down-time between shifts to avoid any penalties.

Sling helps you identify potential "clopening" scenarios. In your Settings > Schedule tab, under labor compliance, you can enable and define this option.

Once enabled, this setting will alert you if the rest time between a shift you are scheduling and another one is not enough.

Note: Sling does not calculate any penalty if a clopening conflict is ignored.

Users will not see a clopening conflict for shifts scheduled on the same day. The conflict will only trigger when the next shift is scheduled for the next day.

For example, if the clopening period is set for 10 hours:

  • An employee is scheduled for Monday 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM and also from 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM on the same day, this will not trigger a conflict.

  • An employee is scheduled for Monday 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM and then scheduled for Tuesday 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM. This will trigger a conflict because it is the next day.
